Chenonceaux kiss

35.0mm, F7.1, 1/640 sec, ISO 200

Saturday 05 April 2014

This photo dates from the trip to Normandy but I have not yet published it in the gallery. I really like the composition. The protagonists are the only persons present in the scene, while the straight line of the footbridge and the semicircle formed by the boats in the water around them leads the eye toward them. This combination of straight lines and curves is perhaps what makes this picture more interesting. The sun is high and the light is not the best, but the composition and the moment I captured seem to be the right ones.

Gate Porta Ticinese

105.0mm, F2.8, 1/15 sec, ISO 800

Sunday 30 March 2014

A curious design on the gate of a shop in Milan in Corso di Porta Ticinese. Did you ever try to take a picture of a drawing, a painting, or a showcase? I simply speak about something that has captured your attention for its beauty, without the need to pass messages related to the context. Sometimes I did, but I wondered what was in these cases the role of the photographer. I thibnk it is like playing a game you can't win: either you fail the photo, and then you lose, or you do it right, but then you just managed to pass the message of the real author, that is not your own, then you draw. Nothing wins. However it doesn't mean that it is not worth doing it, it was a pure consideration...

Marta's portrait

105.0mm, F4.5, 1/400 sec, ISO 200

Saturday 15 March 2014

This photo was taken about a year ago in the centre of Milan. I really like the natural expression and the shy smile. Light and out of focus make the rest.

Railway Naviglio Grande

Monday 10 March 2014

On a beautiful sunny day strolling along the Naviglio Grande is ideal to admire the reflection of the setting sun on the pavé and on the rails of the tramway.

Push the world

105.0mm, F16, 2 sec, ISO 200

Thursday 06 March 2014

Until a few days ago the weather was not that good, and then a little exercise with lights and a tripod doesn't hurt. It takes a more or less curious object and a few lights to create countless different situations. Having the patience needed there would be a lot to learn! This picture is made with a light coming from above (it is not the best choice but I cannot tear it off from the ceiling...) and one on the left to illuminate the side of the ball.

If you take pictures indoors remember that almost all the bulbs report the color temperature, useful to avoid annoying color casts. If your camera allows you to set the color temperature then do it through the menu, otherwise you can do it in post-production.

If you are wondering what is the subject take a look at Clayarte.com.

Arpa Mont-Saint-Michel

105.0mm, F2.8, 0.1 sec, ISO 800

Guitarist in Milano

105.0mm, F5.6, 1/250 sec, ISO 200

Sunday 23 February 2014

I open with this picture, taken not so recently, the snapshot section. Various pictures, taken during a trip, an event, a walk, the photos that I think deserve to be published but for which I do not have enough to justify creating a dedicated gallery. But who said that a picture should be accompanied by other similar pictures? Each one is unique in its own way, because it captures a moment, a moment that passes by and doesn't repeat ever again, or never the same way.

This photo was taken in Milan in Piazza Cordusio, where sometimes a bit of music accompanies the frenetic passage of cars, trams (although blurry you can see the high-voltage cables spiderweb), buses, people, that make the notes background.
